The World Refining Association (WRA) has promoted Matt Maginnis to Global Managing Director. Formerly Portfolio Director for the Americas, Maginnis will be responsible for overseeing the WRA’s global strategy, growing its global presence and consolidating its position as the world’s premier downstream network.
In six years at the WRA, Maginnis has played a pivotal role in expanding the organisation’s footprint. He was responsible for transforming the Latin American Refining Technology Conference (LARTC) into the region's premier downstream event, as well as launching WRA's flagship North American event, the North American Refining Technology Conference (NARTC).
“We are at a pivotal moment for the downstream energy industry, with rapid geopolitical and regulatory change showing how our members are operating in an increasingly complex environment. I have enjoyed engaging with industry leaders on both the challenges and opportunities inherent in issues such as decarbonisation, future fuels and digital transformation.
“As Global Managing Director, I’m looking forward to continuing those conversations, and further enhancing the WRA’s role in facilitating the discussions that will determine the future of the industry.”
Maginnis will work with new Portfolio Director for EMEA Tanushree Mulraj, who previously led the WRA's Asian portfolio. Throughout her career, she has led on commercial strategy, government relations, and revenue growth, while successfully building and scaling industry-leading events.
“After six years building the WRA’s presence in Asia, I’m excited to take on a new challenge with our European and Middle Eastern portfolios. I look forward to working with Matt to grow our events in the region and making sure that we continue to lead the discussion on how to transform the downstream industry sustainably.”
