David Milroy
Commercial Licensing Manager, Johnson Matthey
Dr David Milroy is the Global Commercial Licensing Manager at Johnson Matthey responsible for their mercury-free acetylene to Vinyl Chloride Monomer (VCM) technology. He graduated from the University of Glasgow in 2002 with a MSci degree in Chemistry and then moved to Queens University in Belfast to complete a PhD in Chemical Engineering working on Acid/Base Catalysis in Ionic Liquid molten salts between 2002 and 2005. David then moved back to his native Scotland to take up a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow position at the University of Glasgow focusing on acetylene hydrogenation catalyst development as part of a multi-disciplinary JM funded project.
Following this successful academic chapter of his career, David joined Johnson Matthey in 2007 as a Research Chemist where he held various R&D roles within Johnson Matthey’s licensing business working on both the optimisation of our core technology portfolio and development of new sustainable technology solutions. In 2017 he moved into the commercial function of the JM catalyst business where he held the position of European Regional Sales Manager for a period of 5 years before moving into his current licensing manager role in February 2022.
David is excited to join forces with Dr Paul Hudson at Transform Materials to deliver this joint presentation to highlight how JM and Transform’s technologies can provide a route towards more sustainable PVC manufacturing.
