David Roman

David Roman is an FCC, Alkylation and Treating Principal Technical Sales Engineer at UOP Ltd and is responsible for developing technically innovative solutions to sales opportunities for revamp and new unit situations, as well as specialist equipment. David is accountable for production of yield estimates for both revamps and new units and provides technical support for the sales phase of the project. David has participated in FCC Coprocessing commercial trials and is part of the UOP’s technical team managing the development of correlations for production of yield estimates. He is also responsible for the calculation and implementation of ISCC Coprocessing certification methods for biofuels recognition.

Prior joining UOP, David worked as a Process Engineer for the Conversion Department in Petroleos de Venezuela (PDVSA) and was responsible for technical support for the conversion units, especially the FCC unit; monitoring of process variables on a daily basis, troubleshooting, assistance during shutdowns and start-ups, inspection of equipment during turnarounds and operator training. He was also the Project leader for a new Sulphur recovery and tail gas unit, working closely during the Conceptual and Basic engineering design.

David earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering from the Simon Bolivar University in Caracas, Venezuela and he is a Chartered Engineering (CEng MIChemE) with the UK Institution of Chemical Engineers. He also holds an MSc degree in Refining, Engineering and Gas from Institut Français du Pétrole (IFP) and a US patent for “Integrated Mercaptan Extraction and /or Sweetening Processes combined with Thermal Oxidation and Flue Gas Treatment”.
