Joaquim Portela

Joaquim Portela is Vice President of Refining and Gasification for Lummus Technology.
Mr. Portela has more than 40 years of experience in project execution and technology licensing for the global refining and petrochemical industry. Prior to his current role, he served for seven years as Co-Managing Director of CDTECH, when it was a partnership between Lummus Technology and CR&L, a Shell company. Previously he was General Manager of Lummus’ EPC operations in Singapore, a position he acquired in January 1999. Mr. Portela holds a master of science degree in chemical engineering from Manhattan College, N.Y. and a bachelor of science degree from the Federal University of Brazil.
