José de Sá is a Senior Partner in Bain & Company’s Rio de Janeiro office, Head of the O&G Practice in South America and Global Head of Downstream. Mr. de Sá has more than 25 years of work experience and more than 20 years of experience in management consulting, advising national and multinational companies in the oil and gas, utilities and consumer goods sectors, as well as federal, state and municipal governments, and trade associations to help them in creating sustainable businesses and socioeconomic results in South America (Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Bolivia, Venezuela), North America (Mexico, the USA), Europe (Germany, the UK, Spain), Africa (South Africa, Angola, Senegal, Mali, Niger, Burkina Faso, Côte D’Ivoire, Guinea Bissau, Benin, Togo) and the Middle East (Oman). He advises clients on critical business issues, such as corporate and business strategy, performance improvement, organization, corporate finance and risk management. Recent experiences involved strategizing on the implications of the new Downstream Oil & Gas scenario in Brazil, and developing an industrialization plan to double GDP in a South America country. Mr. de Sá’s perspectives on Brazil’s oil & gas industry and in the global downstream sector have been quoted in the Financial Times and published in Oilfield Technologies, as well as in several local media like Exame magazine and newspapers Valor Economico and O Globo. Mr. de Sá earned an MBA from the Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University in the U.S. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Universidade Federal da Bahia in Salvador, Brazil.
