Joséphine Gigon

Joséphine Gigon works for SGS Beta, a Miami-based laboratory specializing in the isotopic analyses of carbon. Carbon 14 is commonly used for dating purposes by geologists and archaeologists, but also applies to products that are partly made of biomass-derived raw materials (bioplastics, biofuels, waste fuels, CO2, etc.). Testing is used to determine the percentage of the carbon in the product that comes from the biomass versus petroleum-derived sources.
