Aimed at delivering sustainable value to customers, Clariant's catalysts and adsorbents are designed to increase production throughput, lower energy consumption, and reduce hazardous emissions from industrial processes.

The business line Biofuels & Derivatives develops solutions for biocatalysis and biorefinery. The innovation focus here is on the energy-efficient and resource-saving development and production of bio-based chemicals and fuels. Clariant has developed the sunliquid® technology that uses enzymatic hydrolysis followed by fer-mentation to produce second-generation bioethanol, so-called cellulosic ethanol, from wheat straw or other agricultural residues.
