What are you and your company doing for the industry?

At Petrogenium, our focus is on leveraging our expertise in the downstream oil, petrochemicals, upstream, and renewable resources industries to deliver value to our customers by fit for purpose advise and support. Our strength is in the experience of our consultants, which almost all have 25-45 years’ experience, and are dedicated to supporting asset owners with strategic, tactic (improvement) and daily challenges. This with focus on safe, reliable and optimized margin operation, as well as energy transition and project execution aspects.

What's keeping you up at night (professionally)?

“What keeps us up at night” is finding the right balance between listening and understanding customer questions and needs, while also giving them an insight in industry best practices without pushing solutions to them. Additionally, keeping up to date of latest developments and the shift towards sustainable energy sources, and the need to continuously improve operational efficiency while maintaining the highest safety standards demand constant attention. Ensuring that Petrogenium not only adapts, but also thrives amid these changes is a responsibility we take very seriously.

Finding the right topics, customize support, going with the pace of the customer and offering fit for purpose solutions against a fair balance of value/price.

What are you expecting from ERTC?

The European Refining Technology Conference (ERTC) is one of the best platforms in Europe to meet the industry leaders,  converge, and share insights.

In addition to the many interesting presentations, we expect it to help us engage with peers, explore innovative solutions, and discuss the latest trends and technologies shaping the future of refining. ERTC provides an invaluable opportunity for us to showcase our expertise, learn from others’ experiences, and foster collaborations that drive progress. We are particularly keen on hearing the discussions around sustainability and digital transformation, as these are critical areas where we aim to lead and make a significant impact.

Looking into your crystal ball, what will we be discussing by 2030?

By 2030, we believe the discussions will revolve around:

• 1. The energy transition with focus on effective demonstrated new technologies and their integration to create renewable energy,
  2. Security of supply with the geopolitical dynamics challenges today,
  3. Integration and balance between “old” fossil and new (green) operations in our assets,
  4. Knowing the role of CCS, H2, biofuels and other renewable energy related products/processes, defining the next step in the transition 
  5. The potential next step in digitalisation after AI and other supporting technologies.
