WRA & APLA Announce Strategic Partnership to Strengthen the Latin American Downstream Sector

The World Refining Association (WRA) is pleased to announce a strategic partnership with the Latin American Petrochemical and Chemical Association (APLA) to support and elevate the downstream industry across Latin America, beginning with the upcoming Latin America Refining Technology Conference (LARTC), taking place this 23–25 September in Rio de Janeiro.
This partnership marks a shared commitment to advancing innovation, collaboration, and sustainable development in Latin America’s downstream value chain.
“Partnering once again with APLA is a natural step in expanding our efforts to support the Latin American downstream industry,” said Matt Maginnis, Global Managing Director at the World Refining Association. “We’re excited to welcome APLA back into the LARTC community and to explore new ways to amplify our collective impact across the region.”
Manuel Díaz, Executive Director of APLA, added: “This alliance reinforces our commitment to APLA’s core objectives: fostering cooperation among companies and associations in the sector, and promoting the development of young professionals. Working together in events such as LARTC and the 45th APLA Annual Meeting will allow us to create new business opportunities, strengthen innovation, and accelerate sustainable business development across Latin America.”
WRA and APLA will continue working together beyond LARTC to connect regional stakeholders, promote knowledge sharing, and champion the transformation of Latin America’s refining and petrochemical landscape.
WRA, the world’s largest network of global refineries, is the organizer of LARTC – Latin America’s most senior gathering for refining and petrochemical leaders. LARTC brings together government, refiners, technology providers, and investors for three days of high-level discussions and collaboration to help shape the future of the sector.
APLA is a non-profit organization founded in 1980 with the purpose of representing the Petrochemical and Chemical Industry of Latin America. It brings together the leading companies, chambers, and associations in the sector, serving as a business platform that strengthens corporate management and fosters new opportunities. With over 100 member companies, APLA collaborates with industry associations and chambers from all regions of the world. Its mission is to facilitate the sustainable development of business for the Petrochemical and Chemical Industry in Latin America.
La World Refining Association (WRA) se complace en anunciar una alianza estratégica con la Asociación Petroquímica y Química Latinoamericana (APLA) con el objetivo de apoyar e impulsar el desarrollo del sector downstream en América Latina, comenzando con la próxima edición de la Conferencia de Tecnología de Refinación Latinoamericana (LARTC), que se celebrará del 23 al 25 de septiembre en Río de Janeiro.
Esta alianza representa un compromiso conjunto por promover la innovación, la colaboración y el desarrollo sostenible a lo largo de la cadena de valor del downstream en América Latina.
“Aliarnos de nuevo con APLA es un paso natural para expandir nuestros esfuerzos en apoyo a la industria downstream de América Latina,” afirmó Matt Maginnis, Director General Global de la World Refining Association. “Nos entusiasma dar la bienvenida a APLA a la comunidad de LARTC y explorar nuevas formas de ampliar nuestro impacto colectivo en la región.”
